Geo Training Studio Sdn Bhd (GTS) was established late 2011, and started its operations in 2012. GTS was intended to carry out City Guide course as Langkawi needs to increase the number of licensed City Guides.
GTS is registered under MOTAC as Institusi Latihan Pelancongan, and under Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran as Pusat Bertauliah (Private College).
The first City Guide course was conducted in 2013, with 25 participants from Langkawi and achieved 100% pass. It was indeed an eye opener for many societies & travel agencies. They could then start to engage new faces in the tourism field.
The anticipation of GTS in this field was at the right time, when tourism in Malaysia was booming, and Langkawi was consistently becoming the number one attraction island in Malaysia.
The number of City Guides graduated under GTS are currently more than 700. In Langkawi alone, together with senior guides, the numbers easily reaches more than 300. This helps the island and travel agencies to fulfill the needs of engaging tourists guides in bas persiaran. However the numbers are still low compared to the number of visitors to the island. Langkawi often needs to invite city guides from the mainland.
In 2013, GTS expanded its activities to hospitality courses for Pastry and Kitchen courses, whereas DLanguage Studio carried out Front Desk, Housekeeping and Retails courses. GTS ended its Pastry and Kitchen courses in 2018 and decided to place it under review as the reporting method set by JPK became too challenging and GTS saw it unnecessary. GTS only continued with Retails course effective 2019. The only insdustrial partner was HIG, however GTS shortly stopped its involvement in dual system.
In 2015, GTS expanded its core activities to Soft Skills training under HRDF. The main course carried out under HRDF is Customer Services. Among the companies attended this course included Bousted Langkawi, Ferryline, Tanjung Rhu Resort, De Baron and a few Private Colleges.
In 2018, GTS expanded its business into Food Handling Course, under the Ministry of Health.
In 2019, GTS expanded a branch in Nilai, intended for City Guide course and Soft Skills training.
In 2023, GTS expanded its branches in Melaka, Klang and Perlis in conjunction of its 10th year anniversary.
